A combination of electronics and mechanics can be used to provide additional security because both are tested here. If a key with an electronic chip is inserted into a mechatronic cylinder, the electronic system first checks access rights and only then can the key be used to unlock the mechanical lock cylinder in order to open the door.
This type of combination is typically used in offices with high security requirements or with temporary access rights, as well as for door retrofits.
